Happy Halloween!

Well, I hope you've all had a happy and safe Halloween weekend.
We had a great time in our pod on Friday with a fun party. Thank you so much to the organizers and decorators, Shawn, Kale, and their crew of classmates. Thank you to everyone who brought treats for the class. It was a lot of fun having munchies, playing some games and socializing with our pod-mates from the other two classes.

Thank you to our organizers!

Projects
We have started on a few projects: Social Studies, Science, Health and Career, and Novel Study. Great things are being handed in, and we are learning from what we are doing.

Assessment as and for learning is a big focus for us this year. Students are learning from the projects and work they do to help them improve their skills. We have been learning from the successes and errors on our work. All adults know that when we make mistakes, we can learn from them; and that is what we are doing in our class. When we do a project and hand it in, we are not done, we are continuing to learn from examples provided by our work. This is how we grow and learn.

The kids are given clear instructions and assignment sheets, along with assessment rubrics that they can follow to understand what is expected on assignments. The Homework page on the website has the assignment sheets available as well. If further clarification is needed, they are able to ask each other, or me, in person or via email.

Students are also able to hand in assignments via email to me at: swsmith@vsb.bc.ca

Remember, if you have printing issues at home, no problem, we can have you print at school. But, if you know you have no ability to print at home, make sure you send your work in to me, or bring it in a day early to get it printed. Always be prepared.
